1.0 is available; older release plans are history
Beyond These Stars is a released game, not an upcoming Early Access launch. The developer’s factsheet dates the full release to October 16, 2026 in CST and October 17 in New Zealand time. Those dates describe the same launch in different time zones.
Use the full-game entry when checking your installed version. A guide written for an earlier demo can help explain a concept, but it cannot establish the current price of a building or a working fix.

Choose the mode for what you want to learn
The developer recommends Story Mode as the first stop, with a structured introduction and optional tutorial help. Sandbox lets you alter the starting resources, terrain, water and planets; those choices also change the challenge.
For a first session, our suggestion is to keep the tutorial and change as few setup options as possible. This gives you a clearer reference when something stalls. Save the custom-world experiments for a later session with a specific question.

A practical first-session checklist
This is an editorial learning sequence, not a tested speedrun or a fixed construction recipe. Read each current objective before adding another building.
- Find the current objective and the visible resource totals. Name the one shortage that prevents the next action.
- Inspect the building involved: what goes in, what comes out, and what condition is currently unmet? Record the game’s wording.
- Trace that one chain from its input to its destination. Change one cause, then observe whether the output resumes before expanding the chain.
- Keep a small note of your mode, the building and the change you made. If the same symptom returns, compare the note instead of rebuilding the entire settlement.
Treat Kewa as part of the settlement
The developer links Kewa’s health and mood to the environment you create, including trees, pollution and water. Temperature and dialogue choices matter too. Watch the happiness indicator as you make changes rather than judging the settlement only by stockpiles.
The exploration blog explains that other planets can supply resources unavailable on Kewa. That is a reason to learn the travel systems as the game introduces them, not a reason to abandon an unresolved supply problem immediately.

If your first city stops progressing
Separate a missing requirement from a reported bug. Keep the symptom and your installed version, then compare the building and power hotfix guide linked below. Do not delete a save merely because an older guide describes a different result.
