Reverse search starts from the result
A forward calculator predicts the result of a chosen sequence. A reverse calculator searches for a sequence that meets a target. Start with the specific effects or constraints you need; “highest profit” is too vague unless the quantity, costs and customer demand are defined.

Use the maintained calculator
The legacy reverse calculator at Schedule1-Calculator displays a notice that it is no longer updated. Follow its current-tool link rather than assuming the old page’s results reflect later game data.

Set the search constraints
| Constraint | Record before searching |
|---|---|
| Base product | The product you can currently make. |
| Required effects | The effects the target customer or experiment needs. |
| Available ingredients | What you can actually buy and unlock. |
| Cost ceiling | Your budget per unit or batch, with the unit stated. |
| Sequence length | How much production time and complexity you can support. |
Validate the candidate
- Take the ordered result and reproduce it in the forward calculator.
- Check whether the result matches all required effects or only some. Do not confuse a partial match with an exact result.
- Compare two candidates using the same cost assumptions and batch size.
- Run a small in-game batch. Keep the first differing step if the game result disagrees.
- Save the accepted sequence and version, then revisit it after relevant mixing updates.
No-result is useful information
If no candidate fits, relax one constraint at a time: budget, available ingredient set or desired effects. Changing all of them at once makes it impossible to know why a new recipe worked. A solver’s failure to find a result is not proof that the game has no possible recipe.
