Mods and version checks: keep first-game instructions separate
Check the target game, build and dependency before following a mod guide.
The sequel is a separate modding target
Mega Crit’s FAQ says first-game mods do not port easily because the sequel uses a different engine and architecture. It also discusses Workshop support and a dedicated modding community. A support statement alone does not verify a particular mod, loader or current compatibility.
A compatibility checklist
- Confirm the package explicitly targets Slay the Spire 2. A first-game install guide is not a sequel install procedure.
- Read the maintainer’s supported game build, loader and dependency versions. Record each before making a change.
- Look for the maintainer’s own installation and removal instructions. Keep an untouched backup where the game or mod documentation recommends one.
- If behavior changes, record whether the same issue occurs without the optional modification, using the author’s documented removal method. Do not delete arbitrary save files.
- For co-op, check the mod author’s multiplayer requirements rather than assuming every participant can use a different setup.
What we have not approved
This page does not distribute executable files or recommend an unreviewed loader. We have not tested a mod, a modded co-op session or a recovery procedure. Use the developer’s modding-channel link in the FAQ for current discussion.
