A higher headline number is only one input

When two weapons look similar, compare their full item cards and the job they serve in your build. A conditional bonus, a different magazine or a different element can matter more than a single displayed number. Calling one roll a universal god roll hides those trade-offs.

Compare A and B using the same conditions

RecordComparison question
Exact weapon and levelAre these actually comparable versions?
Element and targetDoes the test target favor one option?
Magazine, reload and fire behaviorHow much time is spent dealing damage versus reloading?
Parts and special effectWhich visible property changes the firing pattern or role?
Firmware and gear interactionDoes swapping this item remove a condition the rest of the build expects?
Class skill dependencyDoes the bonus apply to this damage source or to a different one?

Make a useful field test

  1. Keep character skills, target and test conditions constant. Record any active conditional buffs.
  2. Use both weapons across more than one reload cycle if sustained damage is your goal.
  3. Record usability as well as damage: range, recoil, accuracy and whether the intended effect actually activates.
  4. Keep the item that meets your task. Preserve the alternative when it enables a different setup rather than judging it only by rarity.

Use databases to identify, not to replace the test

Lootlemon separates weapons, shields, ordnance, repkits, class mods and enhancements. Use the relevant category rather than assuming every equipment effect belongs to a weapon part. Gearbox’s balance notes show that interactions can change; the comparison should retain a patch date.
