Building material shortages
One recipe at a time. Enter the effective cost per craft; no recipe or discount is assumed.
Calculate the shortage, not the entire database
For one material, the shopping requirement is the planned number of pieces multiplied by the recipe amount, plus your chosen reserve, minus usable stock. Round the result up and stop at zero. The calculator performs this arithmetic for multiple materials; it does not invent building recipes.

Prepare a bill of materials
- Choose one building piece or equipment recipe and read its current resource requirements in-game. Use the community database to locate a candidate recipe, then compare the station and tier.
- Enter the number you intend to build. For each material, enter the amount per craft and the stock you can actually use.
- Keep already committed resources out of available stock. Add an explicit reserve rather than silently counting the same stack twice.
- Copy the result before leaving. Repeat for separate recipes if their inputs or production yields differ.
An illustrative calculation
These values demonstrate the arithmetic. They are not a named Dune recipe.
| Input | Example |
|---|---|
| Planned pieces | 6 |
| Material required per piece | 8 |
| Available stock | 30 |
| Extra reserve | 4 |
| Shortage | 6 × 8 + 4 − 30 = 22 |
Why the game and a planner can disagree
World settings, recipe changes, production batches and location-specific costs can make a remembered amount wrong. Enter the effective requirement displayed by the current game. Do not automatically apply a Deep Desert discount to every item or every world. If a recipe produces several units, first convert the target into the required number of crafting batches.
