Budget your available skill points
Enter the points shown by your game. This checks the total, not skill prerequisites.
Start with the job, then choose the school
A build planner is useful when you know the job you want to do: explore, gather, fight at range, control a group or stay in melee. Funcom’s school descriptions distinguish Trooper firepower, Bene Gesserit control, Mentat tactics, Swordmaster melee and Planetologist exploration. Those identities are a starting point, not a measured damage ranking.

A planning sheet for the five schools
| School | Question to answer before investing |
|---|---|
| Trooper | Which ranged weapon and encounter will this support? |
| Bene Gesserit | Which enemy-control problem do I need to solve? |
| Mentat | Where will tactical utility improve my route or fight? |
| Swordmaster | Can I consistently reach and remain near the target? |
| Planetologist | Which exploration or gathering task is slowing me down? |
Build one small allocation first
Use the point-budget tool below with the available points displayed by your game. The default numbers are an illustration, not the current level cap or a legal complete build. It adds the allocations; it does not enforce unlock prerequisites or skill ranks.
- Write the installed game version and intended activity beside the build. Keep single-player settings with the note when they affect progression.
- Choose a main role and one supporting school. Check the actual prerequisite chain before buying an isolated skill.
- Set aside a point budget for the supporting school before spending the main allocation. If the total is over budget, remove a lower-priority choice.
- Compare one changed skill in the same encounter. Record the result rather than assuming an older showcase remains current.
When a calculator disagrees with the game
Compare skill names, rank limits and patch dates first. The community database displayed version 1.5.3.7 and an October 10 update during our check; that is the database’s label, not proof that every server uses it. A valid arithmetic total cannot validate an outdated skill tree.
