The demo is available; Early Access is still planned

Frostrail’s October 19 announcement opens a free demo, following an October 7 notice that gives an October 19–26 availability window. The main Steam listing still shows a planned Q4 2026 Early Access release when checked October 22. Playing the demo is therefore a chance to try the game before that release, rather than evidence that Early Access has already launched.

Use the current demo entry

Open the main store listing and use its Frostrail Demo download entry. The announcement also links a separate demo app. If that link returns you to the main listing, use the download entry shown there. An old Frostrail Playtest library item belongs to an earlier test and should not be your only check for current access.

  1. Check the title on the Steam listing and find the demo download entry.
  2. Ask the rest of the group to install the same current demo.
  3. Allow time for installation and updates before the planned session.
  4. Check the developer’s latest announcement again if the download option is absent.

Plan for solo play or a group of up to four

The October 19 post confirms solo play and co-op for up to four players. For a group, first agree on a host, a start time and a short initial session. The official description establishes online co-op; it does not establish console cross-play, local split-screen, or the behavior of every disconnect.

Leave room before the final day

The published window does not include a shutdown time or timezone. Schedule your first group session before October 26 instead of assuming access lasts until your local midnight. Check the store requirements on each player’s own machine; a matching specification is not a measured frame-rate result.

Do not assume demo progress will transfer to Early Access. We have not verified a current save-transfer promise. Treat the demo as a trial session, keep feedback about access separate from feedback about the survival loop, and follow the survey link supplied by the developer if you want to report your experience.
