The train is the center of the survival loop
The official overview presents the train as transport, shelter and a base that can grow with additional carriages, storage and crafting stations. The Eden Engine requires fuel and power management. Excursions into settlements and ruins supply materials, while cold and hostile creatures make time away from the train a risk.

Give the first trip one purpose
For a first session, our suggested objective is a short supply run with a clear way back. Before leaving, identify the need you are trying to solve on the train. Avoid collecting an arbitrary quantity from an old guide: use the requirement shown in your current demo.
- Read the train’s current needs and choose one shortage to address.
- Agree on a nearby destination and a visible return landmark.
- Check the equipment and carrying space available to the group.
- Regroup and return when the objective is met or the situation becomes harder to manage.
- Use the materials, then review whether the trip actually resolved the shortage.
Divide attention in co-op
These are suggested responsibilities, not fixed character classes. In a small group, one player can combine several tasks. Say who is watching the return route before everyone starts searching the same room.
| Responsibility | Useful question |
|---|---|
| Train check | What is needed to keep the next leg of travel practical? |
| Supply search | Which item or material is the reason for this stop? |
| Surroundings | Is the group still together and able to return? |
| Inventory review | What can be used now, and what is only optional salvage? |
Notice what changed since the playtest
The October demo announcement lists revised stamina consumption and melee feedback, plus a train ramp intended to make boarding easier and improved visibility through windows. If you played an earlier build, recheck those interactions instead of treating a remembered problem as unchanged.

Keep a compact expedition note
After returning, write down the need, the chosen stop, what you brought back and what delayed the group. That gives the next outing a concrete improvement: a clearer return call, a different task split or a smaller objective.
This is a planning method derived from the documented survival loop. It does not supply tested loot coordinates, optimal carriage layouts, fuel-consumption rates or a guaranteed safe route. Follow the installed demo’s instructions whenever they are more specific.
